Day One of the MM Idol Contest
Is there an artist in you just screaming to get out? Have your friends told you that you should become a professional designer? Do you have a secret desire to have your work published and enjoyed by a huge audience?
Then you could be the first …
MAKING MEMORIES IDOL
Many of you may know Maggie Holmes, one of Making Memories’ beloved designers. She knows a thing or two about taking risks – and how the risks can pay back many times over. In fact, Maggie became a designer through one of Making Memories’ earlier contests! “I entered the mini book contest Making Memories had a few years back and I was chosen as one of the winners!” she says. “I was so excited just to have won but then they asked me to start doing some work for them – creating packaging, projects for the catalog, things along those lines. After a few months of that, the Design Team manager asked me to join their book team and of course, I said yes!”

There you go: living proof that you, too, could become part of the Making Memories family through Making Memories Idol. We cannot WAIT to see all of your great designs. Start submitting your projects today through our site, and make sure to read the rules and how to’s carefully before you get started! Post your questions if you have any.

Good luck!

Sounds fantastic- but I do have a question-

When we upload layouts, will the public be able to view them? Or is it MM employees and such ONLY for the first round?

In the initial audition process it says we can use any layout that best fits us & your Making Memories brand. Does this mean that all the product has to be MM? I've got some pages would love to enter but doesn't use the product. This is so exciting!

After signing up, do we then make a portfolio in our own name where we upload our layouts? Or call it something else?

Thanks for your help!

Sounds like fantastic competition! Just one question - is the competition open to all nations or just USA and Canada?

How many files are we allowed to upload?

For instance, if one of our LO's is two pages, do we try to upload them as one file or can we make it two files?

OR... if our altered project is best shown with more than one angle / view, can we upload more files? Or, again, should we try to combine it to one?

Before I read the contest rules , i uploaded several layouts into my portfolio, then I read that only 3 entries are allwed per person. I tried to edit my potfolio to chose only 3 but was not able to. Is there sny way I can narrow my choices down to 3, and will I be disqualified for having more than 3 entries in my portfolio?

i just did the same- I uploaded a total of 4 LO's- but in 5 pictures before it wouldn't allow me to do more. I can't wait for this to get started... just hope I"m not disqualified?

Thanks for the responses. I just have one more question. If you can add 5 photos to a portfolio, can you make a second portfolio (to add additional images of altered item)? Call it "First Name/Last Name 2" or something like that.

Thanks - Celeste
